Ancestral home of James K. Polk

While on the highway between Nashville, Tennessee and Huntsville, Alabama we spotted a sign inviting us to visit the home of James K. Polk, the eleventh president of the United States. All we had to do was take the next exit and travel about ten miles off the highway to the town of Columbia, Tennessee.

Georgia On My Mind

My brother and I landed in Atlanta at about 5:30 AM local time. By the time we retrieved our bags and got our rental car (a Chevy Malibu) it was about 6:30. So far as Civil War sites go, there's little to see in Atlanta since General Sherman had all of it but about 400 buildings burnt to the ground.

Out of Hibernation
