There weren't any large passenger vans available at the local car rental companies for this weekend so we'll be carpooling to Saturday night's Stockton Ports game.
By my count, we have a group of fourteen going to the game:
Coach Grandpa
Darlene
Lynecia
Mamie
Lena + one offspring
Mariza + two offspring
Chiniqua + two offspring
Myself + one offspring
(Have I forgotten anyone?)
Coach Grandpa can fit five in his Jeep, Mariza can fit five in her car, and Chiniqua can fit seven in her monster SUV. So we'll have a three vehicle caravan going out to Stockton.
Most of our group lives in the Richmond area but Lynecia and I live in the Oakland area. We'll try to make this as efficient as possible so we're not making too many stops along the way. Our tentative plan is to leave Richmond at 3:30. Last time our starting point was Coach Grandpa's house so for now I'll assume it's the same. We'll have one stop on the way to pick up Lynecia and I somewhere in or near Oakland. The next stop will be the Golden Corral restaurant in Tracy. From there, we will proceed to Banner Island Ballpark in Stockton. The gates open at 6:05 and the game begins at 7:05.
The ride from Richmond to Tracy takes about an hour and ten minutes in good traffic. This will put us at Golden Corral at about 4:40. If there are any traffic delays, it will be closer to 5:00. That will give us plenty of time for dinner before the game. It's a 25-30 minute ride from the restaurant to the ballpark. If we leave Golden Corral by 6:00, we'll get to the ballpark by 6:30 and have some time to tour the park before the game starts.
Regarding the pickup point for Lynecia, Shannon and I, one possibility is the Park N Ride at I-580 and Center Street in Castro Valley if that's not inconvenient for Lynecia. It's on the route to Tracy/Stockton and it would be a quick stop-and-go from the freeway and right back on again.
Any questions?

It looks like Mamie is out. There will be thirteen of us going.
ReplyDeleteLynecia is out, too. We're down to twelve but it looks like a firm twelve.
ReplyDeleteWe had a ton of fun at the game. I'll have a full write-up and pictures up on Tuesday night.
