Game With Untouchables Postponed

Once it was learned the verdict in the Johannes Mehserle trial would be announced at 4:00 PM yesterday, many of our employees had to leave work early. It was expected there would be more rioting in downtown Oakland after the verdict was read so BART commuters and those with kids in Oakland child care facilities were urged to make themselves scarce before things got out of hand.

Among those affected were some of the Untouchables. Darriel Miller came down to ask for a postponement of our game because he wouldn't be able to field a team with some of his players leaving early for Oakland. The request was granted.

After the forfeit was announced some of our teamates expressed accusations that the Untouchables were already shorthanded and they were using the trial as an excuse to avoid a forfeit. I don't know anything about that. I assume the request was sincere. Frankly, I don't know why anyone would want to win by forfeit rather than play the game at a later date.
