Readers of our regular website know that Tony "Booker" Smith has been added to our roster. Booker may not be able to play right away but he'll be with us before long. We'll soon have another woman joining the team as well.
We learned at yesterday's practice that Rita was chosen for a detail to the downtown San Francisco office. That's good news for Rita but maybe not so good for our team. Rita may not be able to reach Nicholl Park from San Francisco in time for our games. If we had a deep roster, that wouldn't be a huge problem. But we have only seven women to cover five defensive positions and we know we'll be losing Mandi for a few weeks in July after she gets married. We could possibly be down to five women which would leave us no margin for an injury or absence. Luckily for us, Nina has a friend who wants to play and we got her signed up today. Her name is Taylor Perry, she's an experienced player, and she'll be in uniform as early as this week.
The addition of Taylor to our team uses up our second and final roster spot for "outside" players. Anyone else we add to our team will have to be an SSA employee or be employed at an SSA facility. We now have ten men (including The Coach and I) and eight women. We will likely be without two of our eight women for most of July so we could probably afford to add one more.
